My name is Deborah. I am a former teacher, turned education consultant for a technology company; I am a writer; I am a wife to a blue-eyed beard; I am an animal lover and rescuer–(we currently have 3 dogs, 2 cats, & 2 reptiles). I make friends easily and have many. But the most humbling and moving role in my life to date is that of a mama. My sons, Zac and Jett are 4 and 7, so every day is an adventure and a lesson in survival! This blog is about the daily juggle (and struggle) of the working mom…
We live in a rural area of Virginia in a log cabin in the woods (yes, seriously) and we keep it simple… which, by the way, does not mean we are stupid. It means you can keep your drama, and your traffic, and your $6 latte, and leave me my family.
Some of my favorite things are black coffee, snowy days, thrift stores, breakfast food for dinner, leggings as pants, and fresh notebooks. I will literally smell a new notebook and breathe it in like it’s giving me life. I’m a baseball mom, and this gives me more joy than I ever expected. I wear earrings every single day. I place a lot of value on good manners and good apologies. I believe that taking care of the environment is important. I try to set a good example for my kids, and sometime I fail at it. I’m glad you’re here.
