Crack Pretzels.

My good friend, and gracious vacation hostess, clued me in to the easiest, tastiest snack… So I’m passing it on to you all! She calls them spicy pretzels. I call them CRACK-ZELS.

All you need is a bag of your favorite thin pretzels, a half cup of vegetable or canola oil, a packet of ranch dressing mix, and 2 tablespoons of crushed red pepper.

I like the Utz brand “wheels” because there’s more nooks and crannies for the spices to cling to!

All you do is mix the ranch packet and crushed red pepper into the oil, using a small whisk or a fork to get it all combined nicely. Then pour it over the pretzels and toss with big spoons to get them all evenly coated. Let it sit– occasionally toss and recoat. It takes a couple hours for all of the oil to absorb/dry and all of the spices cling beautifully. And TA-GAA! I plan to store them in plastic container so I can pour some out and enjoy them whenever! I will say they are ADDICTIVE AS HELL… hence, “Crack-zels,” so not great for sodium counters, but it’s low calorie. Enjoy!

My name is Deborah. I am a former teacher, turned education consultant for a technology company; I am a writer; I am a wife to a blue-eyed beard; I am an animal lover and rescuer. But the most humbling and moving role in my life to date is that of a mama. My sons, Zac and Jett are 4 and 7, so every day is an adventure and a lesson in survival! This blog is about the daily juggle (and struggle) of the working mom… I'm glad you stopped by!
